Omega 3 Long Chain Brain Mood Food

I was looking for a long chain omega 3 fatty acid fish oil supplement that passed stringent 3rd party certification with flying colors for freshness, purity and potency. This supplement has it all and a couple other features that separated it from many omega 3 fish oil supplements.
The first thing I like is that they harvest the oil from smaller fish lower on the food chain such as sardines and anchovies.
The other feature that pulled it ahead of the crowd was that this omega 3 fish oil supplement is in its natural triglyceride form. To concentrate EPA and DHA in fish oil supplements the natural triglyceride molecule is dismantled and the desired fatty acids are concentrated. There are 2 ways to deal with this:
- reassemble the triglyceride molecule or
- treat the fatty acid mixture with ethyl alcohol to create an ethyl ester molecule. Ethyl ester fatty acids are an unnatural addition to our human diet.
This was extremely difficult information to get from the other companies I was researching. Customer service at many companies were unprepared for this question, “Is your fish oil product in its natural triglyceride form or in an ethyl alcohol form?”
I think the answer is worth knowing in order to make an educated decision. It is overwhelming at times trying to sort omega 3 fish oil supplements out, is it not? It’s nice to know I will help you by checking out these little details for you.
Two capsules have a combined total of 1100 mg of EPA and DHA. This is much higher than the first omega 3 fish oil supplement I tested which has 400 mg in two capsules. I still have the lower dose supplement and often take one capsule of each per day. If I’m busy I might take only one capsule per day. I choose the Nordic brand first because of the higher EPA and DHA dosage.
There is a hint of lemon flavor in the large capsule and I am thrilled to never taste any fish oil. Take them with a real meal instead of a light snack for easy digestion. I find drinking more water about 30 minutes after eating also helps me digest them.
