13 Ways Healthy People Maintain Health

Many people seek total health by studying symptoms, diseases and cures. I discovered an inexpensive, fast and easy way to achieve total health.

Before implementing my new direct approach to total health I admit to belonging to the category I now label “Disease Obsession.”

So what happened? One day while I was on the internet immersed in research directed towards self diagnose by reading laundry lists of symptoms, diseases and cures of common diseases and deciding if I had one disease or another I made a simple discovery.

I realized by focusing on the  symptoms, diseases and cures and putting a label on my problem I was actually giving myself a post hypnotic suggestion to actually be, feel and accept the disease I was studying.

I immediately asked myself these questions:

  • If you are seeking total health, how do you benefit by obsessing about what disease you might or might not have?
  •

Is this “Disease Obsession” helping you achieve your goal of total health?
  • What could you do that would be more useful than studying symptoms, diseases and cures?

And then in a flash the answers came and I knew what to do. I decided to:

  1. find healthy people
  2. ask them what they do to maintain health
  3. and model their behavior

So that’s what I did.

Check out these 13 ways you can model healthy people and achieve total health.

1. Stop studying symptoms, diseases and cures
Healthy people do not study symptoms, diseases and cures they think they have or should have. They immerse themselves in life. What do you enjoy about living? Write it down and pick something from your list to do right Now!

2. Engage your body and mind in practices to continually grow stronger, smarter and wiser.
Healthy people know the way to total health and happiness is to respect and nurture the one and only body/mind system they have been given. They stay actively involved with pleasurable activities that stimulate and improve their body/mind system.

Not only do they engage in a variety of physical activities they enjoy they also challenge themselves by regularly studying and learning new things.  Healthy people continually work on themselves. What will you do today to improve your quality of life?

3. Eat a well balanced whole food diet rich in fresh fruit, vegetables and healthy fats.

6. Surround yourself with upbeat, competent and forward thinking people
Healthy people know a supportive emotional environment will improve life for everyone. How do you treat those around you and how are you treated by these same people? Healthy people also know that when you live and work with upbeat, competent and forward thinking people, you can relax and trust them to do what is necessary without oversight.

7. Immerse yourself in activities where you have interest and gain deep satisfaction
Healthy people spend a majority of their time in the zone. It’s a mind set that will keep you sharp, alert, joyful, satisfied and fulfilled. Find an activity where you lose all track of time when you are engaged in it.

8. Share your gifts and skills with others
Healthy people give back in the form of gifts, information, education, food or whatever is needed by those around them. How can you help someone near to you?

9. Engage with all age groups
Healthy people know interaction with all age groups enlarges their perspective, makes them smarter, more competent and appreciative of diversity. Practice interacting with someone older or younger than you today.

10. Ask new questions
Healthy people ask questions which expand their potential rather than limit them. Ask yourself these questions:
How can I have more fun?
What can I do to feel even better than I do right now?

11. Get out of your comfort zone
Healthy people know that the only way to grow in new directions is to step into situations where you push yourself into unfamiliar terrain. Staying in the familiar zone will doom you to a mundane life. What challenges you and at the same time piques your interest? Go for it!

12. Let go of regrets, perceived failures and disappointments
Healthy people know that all experiences create valuable resources that you can tap into anytime to improve the quality of your life right now. You made the best choices at the time. Give yourself a break and see the value received from the experiences. What did you learn?

13. Make your own luck
Healthy people know you can only count on yourself. Everything else is gravy. Write down all the great accomplishments of your life big and small. See how much you’ve already accomplished to be here today. Feel the strength that comes from relying on yourself.
